Here is a high quality, black anodized aluminum Step Up Ring. This is for mounting a 39mm filter or hood on a lens that normally uses 28mm. I had the 39mm ring made to go with the Nikon brand 39mm filters. They have a few really good ones but Hoya also makes a full line of 39mm filters, this is the smallest size you can get colored filters, filters other than the usual skylight, uv and polarizer.
Step up/down rings like this are a good idea. Filters and hoods can be very expensive so these rings save you a lot of money. I like having the ability to use all of my filters and hoods on all of my lenses. I am hoping this will be a natural fit in the Photo world. The way I see it is many people like to use the original manufacturers accessories. Nikon makes great 39mm multi-coated filters so I had this ring made to adapt them to the Coolpix cameras. As far as I know I'm the only person with this size ring right now.
